August 10—The fourth ranked VHS Lady Indians Softball team started the 2020 season Friday with a pair of road wins at the Harlem Fall Classic. Vidalia defeated Briarwood 1-0 and Harlem 4-1.
Game One against Briarwood the Lady Indians got a good pitching performance by Madison Starr who allowed just two hits and striking out seven. A sacrifice fly by Tori Wright in the fifth scored Rileigh Robinson from third base for the only run of the game.
Game Two Vidalia beat the Harlem Lady Bulldogs behind pitcher Bailey Holland. Tori Wright went two for three with two RBI’s Ashtyn Braddy had a good day at the plate also going two for three. Madison Starr added a solo home run. Holland went five innings with seven strikeouts and allowing just four hits, no earned runs and also a sacrifice RBI at the plate.
Vidalia goes to 2-0 and will host South Effingham Tuesday at 5:45PM for the home opener.
