Economic growth and job creation is the focus of the Toombs County Development Authority (TCDA), and having a building to showcase to prospective businesses who want to bring their operation to the county is vital. That's why TCDA Executive Director Michele Johnson says the Authority is actively planning to build a new speculative (aka "spec") building. These type structures are usually a shell of a building, but easily adaptable in a timely manner to fit a prospect's needs if they decide to locate their business in an area.
The spec building will be constructed in the Toombs Corporate Center in Lyons where the Chicken of the Sea facility is. Johnson said the Authority is hoping to have the building ready for show by January 2021. Local contractors interested in submitting Request for Proposals (RFPs) may contact Johnson at 537-4466.
Johnson also serves as the President of the Toombs-Montgomery Chamber of Commerce and was recently appointed to the Georgia Association of Chamber of Commerce Executive's Board of Directors, and will use her contacts at that level to highlight local businesses and work to attract more businesses and jobs to the local area.
