Mr. Charles T. “Tommy” Dunn, age 68 of Soperton passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, July 21, 2020 at his home.

Born in Vidalia, he was the son of the late Charles Dunn and Colleen Brinson Crown.  Tommy grew up in the Gillis Springs Community, was a graduate of Treutlen County High School, and a member of the 1969 Treutlen County State Champion Track Team; which is commemorated by a bench bearing his name in Gillis Park in Soperton.  Mr. Dunn had worked as a Carpenter; which required some traveling from time to time; but primarily, he was a “Hippie” from Treutlen County.  He loved nature, fishing, being out doors, loving and hating the Atlanta sports teams and many genres of music.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings, Ronnie, Linder and Johnny Brinson, his step father, Frank Montgomery Crown and maternal grandparents, Yulas and Myrtle Moseley Brinson.

Tommy leaves behind, his daughter, Stephanie Hightower and her husband, Jon, Shaker Heights, OH, his son, Curtis Dunn and his wife, Lisa Mays, Soperton, GA, siblings, Eleanor Yawn (Thomas), Homerville, GA, Lana Hester (Bill), Collins, GA, and two grandchildren, Devin and Zach Hightower.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, July 24, 2020 from the graveside in Boiling Springs Cemetery with Mr. Thomas Yawn officiating.

Mr. Dunn will be laid to rest in the family plot.

His family will receive friends, on Friday, from 10:00 – 10:30 am at the funeral home.

His family respectfully requests that all attendees wear facial coverings.
