With the start of school at Vidalia moved back to August 7th and the Georgia High School Association announcement that football season is moved back two weeks, Vidalia Athletic Director Tommy Dalley says they are moving forward on preparing their fall sports teams for the upcoming season.

“We’re going to follow along with the GHSA guidelines and their recommendations of what we can and cannot do.  It is tough navigating the situation right now but I think our coaches are all doing a fantastic job of adhering to the restrictions that we do have.  The GHSA said that football can start wearing helmets and that’s a plus for us,” said Dalley.

Dalley added, “A little at a time we’re starting to get more and more restrictions lifted.  Our plans are to continue with the protocols and be on time with the fall sports.”

With the COVID-19 pandemic still a main concern, Dalley said the main focus is on the safety of the athletes.  “The coaches and our school system are definitely putting the safety of our students and student athletes first.  You have to prepare and put things in place for the athletes to be ready to go when they do lift all the restrictions and turn us loose,” said Dalley.
