July 19-- On July 9th and 10th, rising VHS senior wrestlers competed in the NUWAY Grand River Rumble National Wrestling Tournament in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Coach Gerald Carr of The Storm Wrestling team invited the Indians to compete in the tournament in which both student athletes earned High School All-American status in the duals and in the open tournament

Jaylin Burns competed as a heavyweight defeating several nationally ranked opponents. Burns made it to the finals facing off with West Laurens' two- time State Champion Chase Horne. Chase Horne won the championship with Burns finishing second. 

Tom Godbee was rolling through the competition until he sustained an injury in the semi- finals against a State Champion from Kansas. Coach Carr pulled him from the bout. Godbee returned for two more rounds, but eventually had to forfeit placing 8th.

Overall the Vidalia athletes had a very impressive showing!
