July 16  Mr. Troy Hightower, age 86, of the Johnson Corner Community, died Monday, July 13, 2020, at home after an extended illness.  He was a native of the Marvin Yancey Community in Toombs County and lived there until entering the U.S. Navy in 1952.  He started his civil service career in 1954 and retired in 1989 from Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins.  He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, bird watching and nature walking.  He was preceded in death by his parents, William Fred Hightower and Lela Reese Hightower; and seven siblings.

Mr. Hightower is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Grace Denmark Hightower of Johnson Corner; three children, Ken Hightower and wife Marie of Macon, Denise Hightower of Forsyth, and Kevin Hightower of Macon; two grandchildren, Jessica Bohannon of Caddo Mills, Texas, and Chace Ambrose of Macon; three great-grandsons, Nathan, Noah and Nicolas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Friday, July 17th, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Wayne Swanson officiating.  Burial will follow in the Edmond Chapel Church of God Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday afternoon from 2:00 until just prior to the service.
