A Toombs County man lost his life Tuesday morning when the SUV he was driving collided head-on with a log truck. The accident occurred mid-morning on Johnson Corner Road near S.A. Harden Road.

Toombs County Emergency Management Agency Director Lynn Moore said the driver of the log truck reported that the SUV was traveling on the wrong side of the road and although he attempted to everything he could to avoid the collision, he was unable to do so. The SUV came to rest overturned and the log truck went into the woods.

The Toombs County Sheriff's Office has identified the deceased man as Ryder Mark Williams of the Johnson Corner/Lyons area. The unidentified driver of the log truck was transported to Meadows Health for treatment.

The accident remains under investigation.
