Sheriff Alvie Kight reports that on June 28, 2020, at approximately 11:10 P.M., the Toombs County 911 Dispatch Center received an emergency call for a single vehicle auto accident on Loop Road (GA HWY 130 east) at the intersection of Davis Road in Toombs County, Georgia. Responding Toombs County deputies along with the Georgia State Patrol arrived on scene to discover that a semi-truck pulling a cargo trailer wrecked and overturned. It appeared that the semi-truck was traveling east bound before crossing the west bound lane hitting a guardrail and overturning.
The driver, who was identified as Clarence Antley of Vidalia, received severe head trauma and was flown by Air Evac to Memorial Hospital in Savannah, Georgia. Bystander Carl Wardlaw assisted first responders with removing Antley from the semi-truck and placing him into the ambulance. At this time, Antley is considered to be in stable condition. The accident scene was turned over to the Georgia State Patrol who will also conduct an investigation as to the cause of the wreck.
