The following press release was issued by the Vidalia City Schools.

Vidalia High School took time on Wednesday to say farewell to seven staff members who are retiring or leaving the system for other jobs. Vidalia High School Principal John Sharpe presented a special gift to those honored while saying the moment was emotional. "I am very thankful for the contributions that each of these individuals has made to the students, faculty, and staff at Vidalia High School. They have been great instructors and great employees and have made our school a better place to be.  They will undoubtedly be missed."

Those honored were:

Coach Lee Chomskis who coached football and taught Social Sciences for 13 years. Chomskis recently resigned to become the Head Coach at Lincoln Co. High School.

ChomskisCandace Chomskis served in the Math Department at VHS for 11 years and was the Department Chair. Chomskis, who retired at the end of the school year, was also a two-time honoree as Teacher of The Year.

CraveyJay Cravey, a Vidalia native and VHS Alumnus served as the Construction and Marketing instructor for 6 years at VHS. Cravey, who also coached Varsity Football during his tenure, resigned at the end of the school year to become the Defensive Coordinator at Jeff Davis High School.

MorganJohn Morgan served as the Vidalia Show Choir and Vidalia High School Chorus Director for 6 years. Morgan, who retired at the end of the school year, also spent 2 years at J.R. Trippe.

McKeeBrooke McKie, a 2008 graduate of Vidalia High School, taught Family Consumer Science for 1 year at VHS. McKie resigned at the end of the year to return to her first calling in the Nursing Profession.

McCoyRobert McCoy was the Director of the Vidalia High School Band Program. McCoy, who was at Vidalia for one year, resigned to become the Band Director of the Pierce County High School Band Program.

RuffKimberly Ruff, who is also from Vidalia and a VHS alum, was employed as a Para-Professional for the VHS Alternative School Program for 4 years.
