Mr. Wendell Shurling, age 65, beloved husband of Elizabeth Spivey Shurling of Soperton passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, June 17, 2020 at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, Georgia.

Born in Treutlen County, he was one of five children born to Mary Elizabeth Rogers and the late Alex William Shurling.  After attending high school in Treutlen County he worked as a Machine Operator for J. P. Stevens / Forstmann Industries for 30 years.  He worked for Reeves Construction before joining the City of Dublin where he worked up through this past Friday.

In his younger years Mr. Shurling enjoyed riding motorcycles.  He also loved working on and drag racing his Dodge Diplomat with his family at Silver Dollar Raceway in Reynolds.   In his recent years, he enjoyed watching NASCAR and playing with his grandchildren, taking them for rides on the golf cart, picking blackberries and trips to the zoo.

Mr. Shurling leaves behind, his wife of 42 years, Elizabeth Shurling, Soperton, GA, his mother, Mary Rogers Shurling, Soperton, GA, his two children, Eric Wendell Shurling, Statesboro, GA, Amy Shurling Dunn (Michael), Waverly Hall, GA, his four siblings, Lynda Walker (Sammy), Eatonton, GA, Gerald Shurling (Donna), Soperton, GA, Gary Shurling (Margie), Jonesboro, GA, Larry Shurling (Carmen), Barnesville, GA, three grandchildren, Michael Gage Dunn, Olivia Grace Dunn, Spencer Alexander Dunn and numerous nieces and nephews.   

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, June 19, 2020 from the graveside in Westivew Cemetery with Reverend Nolan McDaniel officiating.

His family will receive friends on Friday, at the graveside, from 10:30 until the hour of service.
