Former Vidalia High School Soccer and Football player DaKota Paradice has been named the Head Boys Soccer Coach at South Effingham High School in Guyton.
The 2013 graduate, who played Goalkeeper for the Indians on Vidalia’s first Region Championship and Elite 8 team in 2012, is taking over a team who has won 3 straight Region 2-5A Championships, while winning 36 matches in a 3 year period.
“I know I have big shoes to fill,” Paradice said. “Any time you’re winning more than 10 games in a season, you’re doing things right. I think Coach Hunnewell set me up to have a good team next year too.”
Paradice who also was on the 2012 Region 2AA Championship Football team, says that his coaching style in part, will be influenced by his former Football Coach, Lee Chomskis.
“I will try to model the discipline of the team after Coach Chomskis. He really taught me how to build character and also taught me about work ethic”
Paradice who recently graduated from Georgia Southern with an Engineering degree will teach Engineering at Effingham’s Career Academy (ECCA) as well as coach wide receivers and defensive backs on the Freshman Football team. (Courtesy of Vidalia City Schools)
