A man who recently got out of jail in Treutlen County is back behind bars in Toombs County after leading law enforcement on a chase just after midnight Saturday.

Toombs County  Sheriff Alvie Junior Kight said officers were called to a rented mobile home on fire on White Cemetery Road in Lyons and when they arrived, they found the person who allegedly set the fire had fled in neighbor's 18-wheeler truck. The truck did not have a trailer on the back, and the owner had reportedly moved it so that it wouldn't be damaged by the fire.

The 60-mile per hour chase continued through several roads in Toombs County and eventually into Treutlen County where Treulten County Deputies had deployed stop sticks. The front tires of the vehicle were punctured and the chase was over.

After the driver of the stolen vehicle was apprehended, Sheriff Kight found the owner of the truck's dog in the cab, and instructed his deputies to see that the shaken little dog was taken back to its owners as soon as possible.

Ronald Kight of Lyons has been charged with two counts of reckless driving, driving while license suspended or revoked, a safety belt violation, DUI, failure to maintain lane, speeding, theft by taking and felony fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer. Other charges may be pending as the investigation continues by the Toombs County Sheriff's Office.
