As previously announced, the 2020 Class of Vidalia High School will hold their Commencement Ceremonies Saturday June 20th at Buck Cravey Field.
The Commencement will begin at 9:00 AM and will observe guidelines which are consistent with what Governor Kemp and the State of Georgia have set forth, which includes “social distancing” standards.
It is the hope of Vidalia High School and the Vidalia City School District that the Commencement Ceremonies will hold true to the tradition of previous graduations with some adjustments having to be made because of the Covid-19 Pandemic.
These adjustments will include limiting each graduate to 8 or less tickets for the ceremony. Also no traditional picture taking will be allowed on the field following the conclusion of the ceremony as the graduates will make their traditional circle and then exit the stadium. The ceremonies will be streamed live on the “VHS Live” webpage http://www.esenetworks.com/page.aspx?id=5665&page-id=19502
“As difficult as this time has been for everyone, we realize it has had a significant impact on our Senior Class and their families, and we are going to do everything we can to provide a graduation that will not only honor the Class of 2020, but also make it one that they will be proud of, while staying within the guidelines of the state” said VHS Principal John Sharpe. “Our intentions are to allow each student 8 tickets and hopefully that will happen, but again that could change depending on what the restrictions are the week of Graduation” added Sharpe.
