May 27— Vidalia Indian Tyler Black signed a letter of intent for a scholarship to play football for the Savannah State Tigers. Tyler was a four year member of the VHS Football team and a two year starter at Center (Jr.) and Tackle (Sr.) and also played on the Defensive Line. Black was a member of the 2AA All-Region Team in 2018 and 2019, a two-time member of the 2AA All-Academic Team, a two-time recipient of the Golden Indian Award and Offensive Coaches Award.  He was an Academic Award winner during his sophomore and junior years.

“Right now I am relieved because I know I have some where to go and play ball. I am going to a family setting and I know of bunch of the guys on the team that I have played against. I want to thank my family, teammates and coaches for helping me with this great opportunity.” Black said.

“We are very proud of Tyler both on and off the field. He is a great member of our family. All of our family is here to support him and we are very excited for him and this opportunity.” Katrina Blount- Woodard said.

“I am very proud of Tyler and excited for him to get the opportunity to play at Savannah State. The first college graduate from our family was at Savannah State and I am looking forward to Tyler carrying on the family tradition there.” Clint Blount said.

VHS Head Coach Jason Cameron, “Savannah State just got better in getting a high character kid like Tyler. I do think he will contribute to their program. Coach Quinn is doing an excellent job in keeping the kids at home and Vidalia is close to Savannah and I am just excited that he gets to play at the next level.”
