This Saturday, May 23, will be the final day that the Lyons Police Department will be offering free dog food for pet owners. The food was donated by Greater Good, a nonprofit organization with whom the Lyons Police Department and Lyons Animal Control have established a connection.
The dog food will be distributed from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Lyons Police Department on S. Victory Drive. Pet owners must provide proof of rabies vaccinations of their pets to receive the food.
If your pet is not current on vaccinations, Dr. Merrick Kilgore of Kilgore Animal Hospital will be onsite administering rabies vaccinations at only $15 per shot. The shots will be given carpool-style and you won't have to leave your vehicle to have your pet vaccinated. The City of Lyons does require pet owners to have proof of rabies vaccinations for all their animals.
