Early voting for the June 9 Primary began Monday at County Election Offices. The General Election was scheduled to be held in March, but was moved to May because of COVID-19, and then again to June by Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. That decision was challenged by the Coalition for Good Government, but last Thursday, Federal Judge Timothy Batten upheld the Secretary of State's decision.

The Primary will include Presidential Preference, some state offices and some county offices. Locally, the ballot will also include a vote for or against the continuation of an Educational Local Option Sales Tax. The one-cent sales tax distributed to local public schools is not a new tax, but will be expiring soon.

In the election, voters must vote a straight ticket party (Republican, Democrat or Non-Partisan), but will also be able to vote on offices where the candidate or office does not require a party affiliation.

In person voting will be held Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at county election offices. Early voting will continue through June 5. To view a sample ballot before going to the polls, log onto www.mvp.sos.ga.gov and type in your name and county in which you are registered to vote.
