May 11—The Lyons Recreation Department is still undecided on whether or not to offer sports programs this spring and summer due to the corona virus pandemic. The GRPA has already canceled district and state tournaments for all spring sports.
“We are still discussing and looking at having something later on in the summer but right now we are at a standstill, we are trying to remain cautious. Friday the GRPA canceled swimming, golf and track district and state tournaments. I feel like we will make a final decision the week of May 18th on if we are going to have some kind of season of baseball and softball. We may offer them in the fall along with our football and softball programs.” LRD Director Coach James McGowan said.
“The parks are open for people to use but we have to watch the number of people in the groups and stay in compliance with what the governor has put in place.” McGowan said.
