April 2—A Vidalia High School student athlete has come up with a way to help students get and read books during the time schools and libraries are closed due to the corona virus. VHS junior and state wrestling champion Tom Godbee has launched “Operation Keep Reading.”
“With Operation Keep Reading we are trying to keep kids into books so that we can keep them reading during this difficult time. We are trying to get people to bring in books and we will clean them and they can pick them up and exchange books when they are done reading them. Right now we have bins set up at Vidalia High School and Sally D. Meadows.” Godbee said.
Operation “KEEP READING”
Please consider donating books for our students in Vidalia.
You can drop off your donations at the front of SDM and VHS. Bins will be marked for drop off. Books will be sanitized then made available for pickup.
At the time of pickup, students will pick up or exchange one book at a time.
This coordinated effort is to help students continue to read while schools and libraries are closed.
If you need to mail books to our area please contact us via email
