March 23-- Mrs. Shelly Renee’ Thompson, age 55, beloved wife of Jim Thompson of Soperton passed away on Thursday afternoon, March 19, 2020 at Meadows Regional Medical Center.
Born in Savannah, she was one of three daughters born to Barbara Ann Box Croft and the late J.S. Croft. As a child, the family moved with her father’s work and lived in Reidsville before settling in Vidalia. Renee’ graduated from Vidalia High School, Class of 1983. She worked as an Administrative Assistant at Federal Pacific in Vidalia where she met her future husband, James N. ”Jim” Thompson. They married in 1985 and made their home in Vidalia until moving to Treutlen County in 1994.
Renee’ loved animals, growing flowers, cooking and crocheting. Those that knew her, knew of her caring spirit for needy animals and needy individuals.
She had attended the Soperton United Methodist Church.
Renee’ leaves behind her husband of 35 years, Jim Thompson, her mother, Barbara Ann Croft, children, Shelly Weigand (Ryan), all of Soperton, GA, Laura Thompson (Erin), Warner Robins, GA, her sisters, Andreia Peters Brown (Daley), Richmond Hill, GA, Cheryl Pittman (David), Baxley, GA, Melissa Osburn (Johnathan), Vidalia, GA, her three Boston Terrier babies, Molly, Brutus and Willamena as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 22, 2020 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Lee Pettis and Pastor Gilbert Posey officiating.
Her family will receive friends on Sunday, at the funeral home, from 1:00 pm until the hour of the service.
