March 20-- Vincent R. Drummer Funeral Home announces the death of Bishop Annians Phillips age 89 of Vidalia, GA whose death occurred on Tuesday, March 19, 2020 at Community Hospice in Vidalia, GA.

Bishop Annians Phillips was born on October 19, 1930 to the parentage of the late Fronia Mosley Phillips and the Late Toney Phillips in Montgomery County. He attended the Mosleytown School.

He met and married the Love of His Life, Lillie Mae Waters on April 24, 1949. They enjoyed more than 70 years of bliss and ministry. To this union, four children were born. They were blessed to have another daughter. His home was the home they never turned anyone away. There are many who have the privilege to live and nurtured in the Phillips’ Home.

He was formerly a guitarist and quartet singer. He was singing “Oh How I Love Jesus on a program one night when he was startled at the fact that he was singing something that was not true. He left the quartet group and said the next time he sang that song that it would be the truth.

His favorite past-time was in someone’s pond fishing. He had a special passion for fishing. He could stay out and fish all day long. He would often say…”that is how I meditate”.

Bishop Annians Phillips is known as a Prolific Preacher that would cross over all denominational barriers. He has been shepherding the flock of God for over 67 years. He fathered many Spiritual Sons & Daughters. He was ordained an Elder in The Church of God in Christ by Bishop W. Strickland. After the death of Bishop Strickland, he was very instrumental in getting Bishop C. J. Hicks elected as the Bishop of The Southern GA Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ. His first Sermon was titled “I’m a Prisoner for the Lord.” His first Pastorate was the Denton C.O.G.I.C., Denton, GA, The Central C.O.G.I.C., Tarrytown, GA, The Live Oak C.O.G.I.C., Lyons, GA, and in 1984, he founded the Evergreen Church of God In Christ. He served as the District Superintendent of The Lumber City District for over 30 years. He later established ministries in Wrens, GA, Eastman, GA, and Fitzgerald, GA. He was Consecrated Bishop and found the Evergreen True Vine Holiness Unto the Lord Fellowship where he served as Presiding Prelate.

He fought the Good Fight of Faith, and finished his course on Tuesday, March 19, 2020.

He leaved to cherish his fond memories; A Most Loving and Devoted Wife: Mother Lillie Mae Phillips; his Children: Mary Lee (Elder Daryl) Thomas of Vidalia, GA, Rudolph (Elaine) Phillips of Warner Robins, GA, Carolyn (Freddie) Conaway of Vidalia, GA, Phylis (Freddie0 Wright of Valdosta, GA, His Brother Benjamin (Mary Frances) Phillips of Vidalia, GA, and Betty Warnock of Atlanta, GA. His extended siblings: Sylvester Dumas, Sam Dumas, and Lillie Mae Dumas.

Brothers-in-Law: Elder J. T. Salem, Robert Waters, Willie T. Waters, Fred Waters, Jr., and Roy Waters. Sisters-in-Law: Hattie Richardson, and Willie Mae Clark.
12 grandchildren, Aaron Gordon, Julius Gordon, Toni Brockenberry, Carlos Doty, Corey Phillips, Marquis Harvey, Eric Harvey, Christopher Wright, Freddie Wright III, Karissa Wright, Dana Henry, Isaac Warnock, several great grands and a host of other relatives and friends. His extended siblings: twelve grandchildren, Aaron Gordon, Julius Gordon, Toni Brockenberry, Carlos Doty, Corey Phillips, Marquis Harvey, Eric Harvey, Christopher Wright, Dana Johnson, Isaac Warnock, and several great-grands and a host of other relatives and friends.

The Traditional Funeral will be held on Friday, March 20, 2020 at 6 PM from the Sanctuary of Evergreen True Holiness Church in Vidalia, GA. The Official Service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 12 noon from the Santuary of Harvest Time Faith Center in Vidalia, GA. Bishop Bernard & Valentina Hill is the Pastors. Bishop Vincent R. Drummer will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in Toney and Fronia Phillips Memorial Cemetery in Tarrytown, GA.
