March 13-- The following is a statement from Vidalia City Schools Superintendent Dr. Garrett Wilcox regarding the systems plans to close schools for the next two weeks.
Parents, Staff and Student:
In light of guidance from the Governor’s Office and discussions with various agencies, the Vidalia City School System has decided it is in the best interest of the system to close beginning Monday, March 16th through Friday, March 27th. Although this is a very difficult decision, the hope is to minimize the spread COVID-19 to ensure the safety of students and staff. Please stay tuned to local media outlets and school system sites for further information.
Vidalia Athletic Director Tommy Dalley added that we will adhere to the recommendation of the GHSA and shut down extra curricular activities for two weeks. This includes no practice at this time. We will look at practice in one week and make a decision then on whether or not to resume practice - this is effective beginning today at 3:30.
