March 9-- The VHS Lady Indians competed this past Saturday at the Colony Bank Fitzgerald Invitational. Fitzgerald, Irwin County, Dodge County, Coffee County and Pelham High School were attendance. The Lady Indians placed 1st overall.
Placing for the Lady Indians:
Myesha Hall placed 1st in Long jump, Triple Jump and the 200 meter dash.
Jasmine Smith placed 1st in Discus and 2nd in shot put
Kyleigh Johnson placed 1st in the 300 meter hurdles
Team A of the 4x100 meter team placed 1st. Team consisted of Mahogany Johnson, Myesha Hall, Ashtyn Braddy and Laylianna Griffin.
Team B placed 5th. Team consisted of Aleria Simpson, Moriah Wardlaw, Erika Mainer and Carleigh Wardlaw.
Team A of the 4x400 meter relay placed 1st. Team consisted of Aleria Simpson, Ashtyn Braddy, Isabella Holloway and Myesha Hall.
Team B finished 3rd. Team consisted of Laylianna Griffin, Moriah Wardlaw, Erika Mainer and Sarah Owen.
Mahogany Johnson placed 3rd in the 100 meter dash
Ashtyn Braddy placed 7th in the 100 meter dash
Laylianna Griffin placed 5th in the 200 meter dash
Isabella Holloway placed 2nd in the 400 meter dash
Moriah Wardlaw placed 4th in the 400 meter dash
Sarah Owen placed 2nd in the 800 meter run and 3rd in the 1600 meter run.
Rosa Diaz placed 7th in the 800 meter run and 6th in the 1600 meter run.
Erika Mainer placed 5th in the 300 meter hurdles
Laylianna Griffin placed 6th in long jump
Mahogany Johnson placed 4th in triple jump
Diamond McCray placed 7th in shot put
Diamond Cook placed 7th in discus
Coach Grady Hart, "I am very excited for all of our athletes. They worked hard from start to finish throughout this meet. We have to go to Jeff Davis on Tuesday and the Swamp Relays on Saturday. We are getting better every week. Each athlete is striving to get a personal record in their individual event for the team and that will make us a very strong team this year.
