Feb 26--Mr. James Millard “Jimmy” Wilson, age 72, of Oak Park, died Tuesday, February 25, 2020, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after a brief illness. He was a lifelong resident of Oak Park and was a tank driver in the Vietnam War. He was a truck driver for fifty years, working for Robin Builders, Brown Transport and Williams Brothers Trucking. He was affectionately known by his CB handle as “Popsicle”. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Carlton Wilson and Mary Pauline Screws Wilson; and brother, Joseph Carlton Wilson, Jr.
Mr. Wilson is survived by four children, Lisa Ann Wilson McCarty of Cedar Crossing, Jennifer Renee Wilson Powell and husband Jamie of Vidalia, James Kerry Wilson of Lake Placid, Florida, and Aubrey James Stephens and wife Denise of Nahunta; two sisters, Frances Kersey of St. Petersburg, Florida, and JoAnn Vaughn of Vidalia; his former wife, Barbara Wilson Thiel of Cedar Crossing; fifteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Friday, February 28th, at 2:00 p.m. in the Olney Primitive Baptist Church with Pastor Don Carroll officiating. Burial will follow later in the New Hope Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church on Friday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to service.
