Feb.25-- Mr. William Lucien “Billy” Harris, Sr., age 76, of Vidalia, died Monday, February 24, 2020, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after an extended illness. He was a lifelong resident of Vidalia and was a 1962 graduate of Vidalia High School. He retired from Piggly Wiggly Southern after thirty years as shipping supervisor. After retirement, he worked at Meadows Regional Medical Center in the Purchasing Department for several years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vidalia and was a member of The Joe Palmer Sunday School Class. Billy enjoyed NASCAR and riding motorcycles. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter; parents Samuel D. Harris and Mary Ann Pedder Harris; and a brother Samuel D. Harris, Jr.
Mr. Harris is survived by his wife of thirty-three years, Theresa Campbell Harris of Vidalia; one son Billy Harris and wife Shelley; one granddaughter Ava Waid, all of Brooklet; one brother Jim Harris and wife Gail of Vidalia; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 26th, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Pickard officiating. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 10:00 until just prior to the service.
