Feb. 10-- Mrs. Evelyn Hammock, age 91, of Vidalia, died Saturday, February 8, 2020, in The Oaks Bethany in Vidalia, after an extended illness, She was a native of the Minter Community in Laurens County, as a child moved to Montgomery County and has lived in Toombs County since the middle 1940’s. Early in her life, she worked at Precious Nursing Home, and worked at Sally D. Meadows in the lunchroom for several years. She attended the Vidalia Church of God, and was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Hammock; and her parents, Neal and Mollie Warnock.
Mrs. Hammock is survived by two sons, John Hammock and wife Sandy of Lyons, and Robert Hammock, Sr. of Vidalia; three grandchildren, Robert Hammock, Jr. and wife Melissa of Vidalia, Brian Hammock and wife Brandy of Tarrytown, and Marissa Hammock of Lyons; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 11th, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinecrest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
