GBI Issues Statewide Alert

UPDATE FROM THE GBI:

At about 11:39 a.m., the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office stopped a car in Anderson, SC. Steverson was a passenger in the car

When law enforcement made contact with the car, they discovered Steverson injured from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Steverson was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has issued a BLUE ALERT for Jimmie Steverson, age 23. Steverson is wanted for the death of Chris Fisher, a Warm Springs Police Department officer, that occurred on September 1, 2026, at 11:57 p.m. in Warm Springs, GA.

Steverson is a black male, 5’6”, 150 lbs, with black locs and brown eyes. He was last seen in Warm Springs, GA, on September 1, 2026, at 11:57 p.m. Steverson was wearing a black t-shirt and black gym shorts. He was traveling in a 2026 black Chevrolet Silverado.

Steverson is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him or see any suspicious activity, please take immediate precautions and notify 911.
