Attempts at disrupting schools are no laughing matter, and officials aren’t taking them as pranks or errors any longer.

Recently, a call was made from inside the prison at Telfair State Prison to Atkinson County, and over the weekend, a similar concern was dealt with by the Tattnall County School System.

Sunday afternoon the Tattnall County Board of Education issued a statement that they were aware of a social media post circulating about school safety. The Board said that School Resource Officers had thoroughly investigated the post and found no credible threat to the schools.

In their statement, the Board said, “Unfortunately, posts of this nature have become part of a social media trend occurring in communities across the nation. While we do not want to create unnecessary alarms, we take every safety concern seriously. The School District and our school administrators remain vigilant and continue to work closely with our School Resource Officers and law enforcement partners to ensure the safety and security of our students and staff.”
