Appling County Sheriff Mark Melton says that a deputy was struck by a vehicle Friday morning after responding to the call of a stolen vehicle.

Sheriff Melton said deputies were called to Wood Folsom Automotive Group in Baxley about a possible stolen vehicle. When they arrived, the suspects fled, striking one deputy in the process. The deputy was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

A pursuit ensued and two suspects were eventually apprehended and taken into custody. The Sheriff's Office did not release their names as this is an active investigation with more interviews pending as the investigation continues.
