On Wednesday, Governor Brian Kemp announced two judicial appointments in the state with one of those appointments being in the Middle Judicial Circuit of Georgia.

Gov. Kemp appointed Brent C. Carter of Metter was appointed to the State Court of Candler County to fill the vacancy created with the resignation of the Honorable J. Kendall Gross. Judge Gross resigned in March of this year to seek office as a judge in the Superior Court of the Middle Judicial Circuit which encompasses Candler, Toombs, Emanuel, Jefferson, and Washington counties.

Carter is a partner with the law firm of CarterFranklin, LLP in Metter, and in addition to his legal experience as an attorney, he brings to the new position a wealth of proficiency in the law. He was currently serving as the solicitor General for the State court of Candler County and previously serving as the Chief Magistrate Judge of Candler County.

He earned a bachelor’s degree from Mercer University and a Juris Doctor from Mercer University’s Walter f. George School of Law and has served the residents of Candler County in various legal and judicial capacities since 2005.
