Two area communities are looking for answers as to who and why city property was vandalized and left damaged.
The City of Glenwood is offering a reward for information that leads to the identification and prosecution of the individual or individuals responsible for placing unauthorized objects in a manhole at West 6th Avenue recently.
Not only did the responsible parties fill the city-owned property with trash and debris, but the top to the manhole was also left open, posing a serious safety issue for residents who live in the area, especially children.
The City of Glenwood is asking anyone with information to come forward and share this information with the City of Glenwood at 912-523-5223 or any local law enforcement agency.
Glenwood officials says no matter how limited your knowledge may be in this incident, what you do know could help locate those responsible so that they may be held accountable and so that a similar incident doesn’t occur in the future.
And the Evans County Sheriff’s Office in Claxton is looking for the
person responsible for destroying a grassy patch of land at the Evans County Recreation Department. This incident happened in front of the tennis and pickleball courts.
Known as shooting donuts, the driver of a vehicle literally digs up the grass with his tires, and the Evans County Sheriff’s Office says they believe the person responsible continues to do this to “impress his friends.”
A spokesperson for Evans County Sheriff Mac Edwards says that with all the hard work and effort put into the grounds at the recreation department, it is being erased by one bad decision, and vows that moving forward anyone caught destroying county property in any way will be dealt with by the Evans County Sheriff’s Office.
