Local and state law enforcement endeavor every day to keep contraband out of state prisons, and working together, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Department of Corrections thwarted the delivery of a large array of items seemed destined to be delivered to the Washington State Prison in Davisboro last Friday night.

Washington County Sheriff Joel Cochran said deputies were alerted to a suspicious vehicle at Jordan Mill Pond on Jordan Mill Pond Road. Upon arrival, deputies discovered that two men had been attempting to launch a drone. The drone and several packages found at the scene were secured by deputies, but the suspects fled on foot.

The Georgia Department of Corrections K-9 team arrived to track the men and located one a short distance from the scene. Additional personnel arrived and the second suspect was also located and taken into custody.

The two are identified as Earl Eutsey, III, of Lithonia, and Teddrick Gholston, of Macon.

Deputies recovered approximately 26 pounds of marijuana, 2.2 pounds of methamphetamine, 26 pounds of tobacco, a quantity of suspected oxycodone and promethazine, cigarettes, cigars, vapes, cell phones and chargers, knives, shoes, clothing, speakers, lighters, and alcohol.

Eutsey and Gholston are facing multiples charges associated with the drugs, as well as charges on trading with inmates, nine counts of items prohibited, conspiracy to commit a felony, possession of a gun or knife during the commission of a crime, and other various charges.

Sheriff Cochran said his office will continue to partner with fellow law enforcement to protect the citizens of Washington County, including those housed at Washington State Prison, and to prevent illegal drugs and contraband from entering the community and correctional facilities.
