The Candler County Sheriff’s Office wasn’t taking any chances Friday morning when a multiple-day investigation led to the execution of a search and arrest warrant at a residence south of Metter.
Sheriff John Miles’ office says that Candler County deputies, investigators, and the Swat Team, along with the Georgia State Patrol SWAT Team and others safely executed the warrants associated with alleged threats made on social media related to mass shootings, school shootings, explosive devices, and terroristic threats.
Georgia State Patrol SWAT Team served as the primary tactical team.
The unidentified suspect was taken into custody without incident, and investigators did not locate any explosive devices or materials used to manufacture them during the execution of the search warrant and the Candler County Sheriff’s Office says there is no known ongoing threat to the public.
Multiple agencies assisted in the extensive planning and coordination of the arrest including K-9 teams from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office, and Georgia Southern University Police Department.
