The Georgia Department of Education announced Monday that it will hold a suspension hearing for the Dublin City Board of Education next Tuesday, June 9, at 1:00 in the Hyatt Regency in Savannah.
The suspension hearing will focus on financial issues within the school system, as well as other serious issues including teacher layoffs facing the system.
Financial challenges have arisen over the last few years but came into a greater light last summer when State School Superintendent Richard Woods officially announced that the system was not making contributions it withheld from employee salaries to the state health benefit plan. That issue led to further investigations that showed the system’s budgetary practices could place the district at serious risk.
The hearing will be livestreamed on youtube.com/gadoemedia.
