Last Friday morning, RadioJones was made aware that two Correctional Officers were possibly stabbed at Rogers State Prison Thursday night while on duty. In an effort to provide accurate reporting, we contacted the Public Affairs Office of the Georgia Department of Corrections Friday morning but did not receive confirmation from the office regarding the alleged stabbings until Monday afternoon when they did confirm the officers had been hurt.

According to Joan Heath, Director of Communications for the Georgia Department of Corrections, both officers were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital and have since been released. She said that details of the incident are under active investigation, and at its conclusion, the individuals found to have been responsible for the injuries will be held accountable.

The now-confirmed incident comes on the tails of repeated violence and gang fights amongst inmates at state prisons all over Georgia, with some facilities halting family visitations because of internal fights and conflicts.

According to the Georgia Department of Corrections' website press release, effective June 1st there were several changes in leadership in state prisons including the appointment of a new warden at Rogers State Prison when Lee Clark was promoted from Special Assistant to the Warden to the position of Warden. Warden Clark will be responsible for overseeing staff members and approximately 1,401 male inmates at the prison in Reidsville.
