The Reidsville City Council will be holding a special meeting next Tuesday September 16 at 5:00 regarding the future of former Assistant Chief of Police Jermaine Snell. The meeting was scheduled on advice of legal counsel at the September 8 council meeting.
Last week media sources reported that Snell was let go following an internal investigation which was conducted by an agency out of Martinez, Georgia.
Snell was placed on administrative leave on July 17 and terminated on September 2 for allegedly committing misconduct and insubordination.
Monday night’s meeting of the Reidsville City Council was livestreamed and Mayor Vickie Nail said in the public forum that Snell’s actions were investigated thoroughly and the findings presented to Hearing Officer Jack Downie who Snell himself chose to preside of the hearing and that the court officer found him guilty of the allegations.
Viewing night’s Reidsville City Council meeting, it’s obvious there’s a difference of opinions between the members on this issue, and the former Chief of Police was allowed to publicly address the council where he verbally attacked Mayor Nail. After his oratory, the Mayor said that the community would better understand what has transpired between the City and the former Assistant Chief of Police after next Tuesday’s meeting.
