Three individuals were arrested last Saturday by the Candler County Sheriff's Office in connection with a residential robbery that led to another charge of abuse to an elderly person.
Sheriff John Miles’ office reports that Friday afternoon, deputies responded to a home on Sand Ridge Road about a possible robbery. Investigators and Candler County EMS responded, and it was discovered that an 84-year-old senior citizen had been robbed. The suspects fled and neighbors and community members along with a K-9 from the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office and the Candler County Sheriff’s Office’s own K-9 Dutch were able to find evidence that led to the arrest of one of the suspects on Friday, with the other two being taken into custody on Saturday.
Arrested were Cameron James Werlain, 24, of Reidsville, Alexis Ciera Aldrich, 24, of Metter, and Danielle Courtney York, 28, of Swainsboro. All have been charged with robbery and exploitation of disabled adults and elder persons with additional charges possible.
Sheriff Miles said his office has an obligation to protect all persons in Candler County, especially senior citizens, adding that there is no tolerance for those who prey on senior citizens. Sheriff Miles said that such actions by would-be perpetrators will be dealt with quickly and aggressively.
