The truck belonging to a Laurens County man who has been missing since Monday June 10 was located last Friday by a Spalding County deputy.
According to Major Dwayne Jones, Public Affairs Officer of the Spaulding County Sheriff’s Office, the truck belonging to Garland Warren was found behind a Dollar General Store in Griffin, but a land and air search by numerous agencies that lasted for several hours was unable to locate Mr. Warren.
The Spalding County Sheriff’s Office and Laurens County Investigators began reviewing video footage and went door-to-door speaking with citizens who may have seen the missing 82-year-old man, and also asked citizens to review any possible video footage they may have of him from their home doorbell and surveillance cameras.
Late Saturday night after viewing hours of video, investigators spoke with Robert Earnest Peppers, a white male aged 62, and Kelly Gail Osborn, a white female aged 56 at their residence. While they were being questioned, Peppers admitted to being the person who drove Mr. Warren’s vehicle and parking it behind the dollar store. Osborn admitted that she followed Peppers and picked him up after he dropped off the vehicle.
A search warrant was executed on their residence. During interviews with the couple, an exact location from where Peppers commandeered the vehicle was determined. Peppers told officers that he found the truck in a ditch. During a search of that area, a piece of mail belonging to Mr. Warren was found. Further interviews and information gathered led to the execution of a second search warrant at the residence where items now known to be from Mr. Warren’s truck were recovered.
Peppers and Osborn are currently in custody at the Spalding County Jail and being further questioned about their involvement. For now, they have been charged with theft by receiving stolen property and listed as being a pretrial status with no bonds set.
