The Georgia Department of Natural Resources, in collaboration with the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners, announces the temporary closure of the boat ramp located on Dead River Road in Montgomery County for necessary renovations.
According to personnel with the Wildlife Resources Division of the Georgia DNR, the site has been cleared and initial work has commenced. The Georgia DNR plans to close the ramp beginning the week of July 8th to facilitate essential concrete work at the top of the ramp. The ramp is expected to reopen during the week of July 22, 2024.
During this period, boaters are encouraged to utilize the boat ramp at Towns Bluff, located at 45 Riverwood Trail, Hazlehurst, Georgia. Towns Bluff offers convenient access to the waterway near the confluence, providing an alternative launching point for recreational boating activities.
Chairman Leland Adams emphasizes, "For safety reasons, we kindly request that boaters refrain from using the Dead River Road Boat Ramp until it reopens to the public. Your cooperation ensures a smooth and safe renovation process."
