The 2AA All Region Team was chosen by region head coaches last week and five Vidalia Indians earned First Team honors along with Region 2AA Player of the Year Jaylin Burns. Burns, who played Guard on Offense and Nose Tackle on Defense, is the first lineman in recent history to garner Player of the Year recognition.

Burns who had 79 total tackles on the defensive side of the ball, which included 3 sacks and 8 tackles for loss, also had 42 knockdowns on the offensive side of the ball, and Vidalia Head Coach Lee Chomskis said that the junior has no idea how good he can be. “Jaylin’s potential has no ceiling; he can be as good as he wants to be. He is one of the more physical guys I’ve ever coached. When he pulls on offense he’s on a mission each time he pulls.” Chomskis went on to say that on defense he is every bit as good “Jaylin just causes havoc on the defensive side of the ball. People try and double team him and he still can find a way to be around the ball, he just has the nose for the ball.”

In addition to Burns being Player of the Year, the Indians also placed 5 on the first team. Junior running back Jaedyn Stanley, along with lineman Ryion Adams were named to the first team offense. On the defensive side of the ball, senior linebackers Torre Bellamy and Dawson Ricks grabbed first team honors along with junior corner back Antrevion Williams.

The Indians also placed four players on the 2nd Team including senior Tyler Black and junior Kaylan Johnson on offense, while sophomore Jacoby Washington and senior James Outler made the 2nd team defensive team.

Sophomore Bryce Davis along with juniors Tom Godbee and Mathew Hill were selected Honorable Mention.

Toombs County's was also well represented on the All Region Team with Caleb Hartley being named Defensive Player of the Year. Other Bulldogs making the First Team were DJ Mincey, Chandler Lynn and Javon Brown and Angel Brown on offense and Tyler Smith on defense. Kicker Julian Marion also garnered First Team honors as well.
