"Steve is a man of integrity in everything he does," states Sports Information Director Jenni Prevett. "He is someone who students know have their best interests at heart and is well respected among faculty and staff."

In the Campus Pastor role, Steve has been a great contributor to over 200 students receiving Christ during his time at BPC. In addition, more than 200 have made other commitments to Christ. "Most of these decisions were the direct efforts of Steve's ministry," reflects President Steve Echols.

Focusing on his basketball team, Head Softball Coach Madison Herrin sees the relationship Steve has with his players. "His players know he has high standards for himself, his family and for them. He does not accept mediocracy in his own life, nor does he accept it from his players." One of those players, Jada Ivy agrees. "Coach Edwards has helped me grow in numerous ways that I did not know I could. He is not only a basketball coach, but a spiritual coach."

Athletic Director Daniel Prevett reflects on Coach Edward's past season: "His teams love playing for him and how he holds them accountable. This season has been his most successful to date, winning SSAC Co-Coach of the Year and winning 20 games in the toughest conference in the NAIA. I am excited to see how he continues to build the program to have success on and off the court."

"It was extremely tough to fight back tears when I read and heard what others thought of me as a spiritual leader," states Coach Edwards. "To me, ministry is all about serving Christ by loving and serving others. Ultimately, I want Christ to be pleased with the way I live and lead others. I'm thankful for the ministry God has given me here at BPC and it's humbling to experience others express their appreciation for what God is doing through me."(Courtesy of Brewton-Parker College)
