May 14-- The Toombs County High School track team had three athletes place at the GHSA State AA Track & Field Meet in Rome last week. One Bulldog even came home with a State Championship.

Caleb Hartley had a solid showing at the State Meet as he brought home the State Title in discus. Hartley blew away the competition. His best throw of the day was 165'6” which was 13 feet better than the second place competitor from Elbert County. Hartley also threw well in the shot put as he took second place with a throw of 55'.5” which was just two inches shy of taking the top spot which was a throw of 55'2.25” by Zaylin Wood of Heard County.

LiliAnn Pittman took second place in the shot put at the State Meet. She threw a personal best with a throw of 38'11”, which was nearly two feet better than her previous best. It was also just three inches shy of the winning throw which was made by Shakira Ardister of Elbert County of 39'2”.

The third athlete to place for the Bulldogs was Divoria Gafney who came away with second place in the long jump. Gafney jumped 17'7.75” which came up just .25 of an inch shy of the State Champion who came from Vidalia, Myesha Hall, with a jump of 17'8”
