March 11-- The Indians traveled to Ware County for the Swamp Relays on Saturday and turned in numerous outstanding performances and came hope with several personal bests and champions.

Senior Raymond Collins improved his time substantially in the 100m running an 11.69 last week and turning in an 11.08 at the Swamp Relays.  He continues his mission in the 200m running a 23.70 last week but bettered it this week with a time of 22.67.  These times bump him up the 2A state rankings leaving him with the 3rd fastest times in our classification.  Cailyn Jordan remains in the 2nd place ranking in the 200m with a time of 22.63 and 4th in the 100 with a time of 11.20.  RIght now we are ranked 2nd in the state in the 4x100 and 1st in the 4x400 with a time of 3:34

The distance runners are on fire and continue to run faster each week.  Cole Register is our first runner to run under 11 minutes in years and ran a huge personal best in his second meet of the season.  He was also a member of the 4x800 team.  This team ran 40 seconds faster this year than they did last year.  Chason Brogdon ran an excellent race in the 1600 shortly after coming off of the 4x800 race then he competed in the open 800 and was still very close to his personal best.  These young men are leading the way for freshman Luke Palmer who is running at or near his personal best every time he races.  Luke excels in the 3200 with his personal best 11:24.

"In the field events we racked up even more points with Antrell Williams literally jumping right into track after his successful season on the state runner up basketball team, placing 3rd in the long jump.  He has some amazing jumps in the high jump but his timing was a little off.  He will be one of the best high jumpers in the state once this is corrected.  He is an amazing young athlete.  Jaylen Clements placed 4th in the discus with a personal best throw. Jaylen placed 5th at state last year and he is aiming for bigger things this season!  Another stand out performance came from Hunter Manning in the pole vault. We are excited to announce that Hunter is our first pole vaulter to place in a competition in over a year.  He is a natural at this event and is already ranked 5th in the state.  His accomplishments are astonishing. This is a very technical event and it is one of the most difficult events to learn.  Hunter has put countless hours traveling to off site facilities to vault and develop his skills.  As a coach I am so excited to have this kind of an athlete on the team with his determination and dedication." Coach Mandy Godbee said.
