February 13—Anna Stanley signed her letter of intent for a scholarship to shoot sporting clays at Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs. Stanley is a member of the RTCA Shotgun Team and is the first Crusader to sign a scholarship in this sport.

She has been a member of the National Sporting Clays Association for three years and has competed for RTCA since the 8th grade.

“I think this is an amazing opportunity, I think it will be great to get to go shoot in new places around the country and to get to meet so many new people. I am so happy to be able to continue my education and participate in the sport that I love. I really liked the college, it had that small town feel and that was one of the things that attracted me to it. I want to thank my grandfather for giving me my first gun, my mom and daddy, all my coaches and everyone who has helped me out along the way.” Stanley said.

Janet her mother added, “We are very proud of her. This is a great opportunity and who knows maybe she will end up on the Olympic team one day the sky is the limit for her. She has worked hard and we know she will continue to do well.”

“She is the first one to get this chance and we are really excited for Anna and the whole sporting clays team here at RTCA. They continue to improve and our coaches have done a great job.” RTCA Athletic Director Hayne Brant stated.
