He continued, “Right now we need to focus on setting a pace that only we can set and maintain.” Vidalia defeated Dodge County 72 -6, Metter 65-12, and Telfair County 72-3 before dropping their only Friday night loss to Ware County 25-54. On day two the Indians fought back from being down 8 points to defeat Islands High School 40-36 with pins from Noah Tippett and Mason Galbreath in the last two matches. The Indians then defeated Screven County 69-12. In the first round of the champions bracket, Vidalia fell to Toombs 15-55. In the consolation quarterfinals, Vidalia lost to Coffee County 30-45. The Indians bounced back in the placing match to defeat Mill Creek 51-20. The other Indians competing on the weekend were; Javarius Worthen (106/113), Extavious Hill (106/113), Markevious Mincey (132), Damian Townsel (145), Dawson Campbell (160), Eddie Wadley (182), and Jaylin Burns (220/285).

Coach James Ferry stated, “We are very proud of our guys’ performance this weekend. Even though some of the team scores don’t show it, we were in a lot of the toss up matches and just came out on the short end. Our guys worked hard, it’s early in the season, and we’re confident we’ll have this bunch ready come February. We just need to concentrate on our pace, technique, and grit and stop worrying about wins and losses.”
