November 6-- The Vidalia High School Boys and Girls Cross Country team traveled to Carrollton, GA for the GHSA state Cross Country meet last Saturday. Both teams competed very well on a challenging course.

The Lady Indians had an exceptional race with Kaitlyn Allen running 5 minutes faster on this course than she did earlier in the season. Allie Whittaker followed her lead and was right behind her.  Both these young ladies are only freshmen and have excelled throughout the entire season earning a new personal best at nearly every meet. Jakerra McRae was also a member of this state bound team and competed very well for the team along with Felicity Day, Alecia Henry and Zoee Jones. The only senior on the team is Alecia Henry, who has been a member of this team for the past four seasons.

The Indians had an excellent season and finished it with a 7th place finish as a team exceeding last year's finish of 9th place.

“It is exciting to watch this young team made up of 3 juniors, 1 sophomore and 3 freshmen. These guys already have their sights set very high for next season and believe know what it is going to take for them to climb this ladder and reach the podium next year” Coach Mandy Godbee said.

Chason Brogdon had a course personal best and ran with the top pack through the first 2 miles.  He attacked this race with his sights set on a top 10 finish but he fell shy this time.  Cole Register was 20 seconds behind Chason with his sights set on top 10 as well. Hunter Hammock had an exceptional race followed by freshman Luke Palmer, and Tucker Coleman. Markell Parrish and Bryson Whited.

Godbee said, “This is a fine group of young student athletes and it has been a pleasure and an honor to watch them grow and develop in cross country. Although the team was excited and proud of their results and finishes this year, it is awe-inspiring to watch them finish their state meet and set their sights on next year.  They already have their goals set and a plan to get them to where they want to be. As a coach, I know they will get there and I am so excited to be a part of it!  I have no doubt they will make it come to fruition.”
