November 5—Toombs County Bulldog football player Demetrius Owens suffered an injury to his neck in Friday night’s game against Swainsboro in Lyons. Toombs County Athletic Director Bill Benton said, “Owens was taken to Memorial in Savannah where he spent the night in the hospital. He had trauma to his spinal cord. All tests came back good and he was released from the hospital Saturday and came back home Saturday afternoon. Owens has an appointment to be rechecked next week. No sports activities for awhile.”
