November 2 -

It was down to the wire for the Toombs Co. Bulldogs and the 2 AA Region Champion Swainsboro Tigers as the Bulldogs were unable to upend the Tigers 21-20 in the final regulation season game for 2018. The game was scoreless until the second quarter when with 7:02 left in the half the Tigers drew first blood. With less than four minutes in the first half, the Bulldogs tied it up 7-7 with a pick on the far side to regain control and the ensuing drive led to the touchdown, but with less than one minute before halftime, the Tigers broke the plane and the halftime score was Swainsboro leading 14-7. The third quarter was uneventful until the very end when the Bulldogs grabbed a pick 6 to tie it up for the second time and go into the final quarter all knotted up at 14 apiece.  In the fourth quarter, the Tigers scored again and made it 21-14 and with :59 seconds left in the game, Toombs Co. scored and went for the unsuccessful two-point conversion to fall short, 21-20.  With that loss and an earlier loss to Jeff Davis, the Dogs will enter round one of the GHSA AA State Playoffs as a number 4 seed and travel to Dublin to face the Fighting Irish next week.
