October 27—The Montgomery County Eagles traveled over to Twin City Friday night to face the ECI Bulldogs and decide the Class A Region 3B Championship. The Eagles came up short falling to the Bulldogs 49-20.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter then the Eagles got on the scoreboard with a DaQuan Jackson 48 yard run to make it a 14-7 score. ECI scored two more touchdowns in the second quarter with Montgomery County scoring before the half on a Randy Shoemake 25-yard touchdown run to cut the ECI lead to 28-14.

In the third quarter ECI added two more touchdowns. Montgomery County had an opportunity to score late in the period and cut into the Bulldog lead after getting a first down, but lost the ball on a fumble inside the ECI 10- yard line.

The Eagles got on the board again in the fourth quarter on a Ty Roundtree 3-yard run. The Bulldogs added another touchdown in the fourth period to get the win over the Eagles 49-20.

DaQuan Jackson led the Eagles with 140 yards rushing on 17 carries. Randy Shoemake carried the ball 7 times for 76 yards.

Montgomery County falls to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in the region and will host the Claxton Tigers in a region crossover game next Friday night at 7:30PM. The Eagles defeated the Tigers earlier in the season 41-0.
