October 25-- On Wednesday, the Toombs County Cross Country teams traveled to Jeff Davis to run in the region 2AA meet.  The girls ran well, but came up 3 points short of qualifying for the state meet next weekend in Carrollton.  The boys had a strong showing, finishing 3rd in the region, and qualifying for the state meet.

"We knew coming into the meet that the girls have very little margin for error in order to qualify for state.  With only 4 healthy runners the 2nd half of the season, we weren't even sure if we would have enough girls to score as a team.  Our 5th runner got cleared this week and was able to run.  Our top 4 girls all ran well, running in the 27's, but we came up just short of qualifying for the state meet." Coach Jeremy Moore stated.

"On the boys side, when we have all 7 runners, I feel pretty good about our meet results.  I have seen times come down from all of our runners, and several of them ran their best times today at region, which is ideally what you strive for.  The guys were excited about running today and it showed.  They did a good job of controlling their emotions and running how we have trained this season." Moore said. The TCHS boys cross country team now turns their focus to the GHSA state meet next weekend in Carrollton.10 25 18 Toombs CC
