Oct.3--Johnnie Mae Williams age 89 of Mount Vernon, GA, quietly and peacefully made the transition into Eternal Rest on Friday, September 27, 2019.  Auntie” Johnnie Mae Williams was born on August 13, 1930 in Vidalia, GA to the parentage of the late John Williams and Mary Lawson Williams.

Johnnie Mae was preceded in death by Three Sisters: Louise M. Snell, Evelyn Jones, and Margaret Lawson, along with several nieces and nephews.
“Auntie” moved to Mt. Vernon, GA in 2007 from East Point, GA.  Upon her arrival here she attended First Deliverance Church in East Point, GA, after arriving in Mt. Vernon she moved her membership to Guiding Light Worship Center in 2008.  She was a retired Teacher from Atlanta Public School System where she taught from 1965 until her retirement in 1985. Afterwards she worked at Carrie Steele Children Home from June 18, 1997 until retiring on December 31, 2004.

She leaves to cherish beautiful memories:  Two God-Daughters:  Joy McNeil of Greensboro, NC, and JaHaley McLeod-Anthony of Mt.  Vernon, GA. One God-Son: Landan Gadson of Mt. Vernon, GA.  A devoted Niece Wanda McLeod-White of Mt. Vernon, GA. A Great Niece Alexis McLeod-Anthony of Mt. Vernon, GA, and a Great Nephew Sherrod McLeod of Mt. Vernon, GA.  “Auntie” has a host of other nieces:  Mary Harris, Cynthia Jones, Evelyn McNeil, and Dorothy Payne.  Nephews:  Walter “Jack McCloud, Kenneth Jones, Wilbert Snell, and Paul Jones.   3 Special Friends to the end Pamela Jones, Willie Mae Wiggins, and Prophet Michael Kennebrew. And a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Public Visitation will be held on Fri, October 4, 2019 from 4 PM until 7 PM at Vincent R. Drummer Funeral Home in Vidalia, GA.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 1 PM from the Sanctuary of Guiding Light Worship Center in Mt. Vernon, GA.  Bishop Theotis Summerset, Jr. is the Pastor will deliver the eulogy.  Interment will follow in McRae Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, GA.

Vincent R. Drummer Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements for “Auntie” Johnnie Mae Williams.
